Graveside Service 11:00 am Friday 7/11/25

Menorah Cemetery, Clifton, NJ

Neal Fox June 2, 1949 – July 5, 2025 Neal David Fox, 76, of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away on July 5, 2025, from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Neal spent his entire adult life in the Chicago suburbs before moving to New Jersey in 2015 to be near his grandchildren. A graduate of Mather High School and Southern Illinois University (Carbondale), Neal returned to Chicago following college where he married his high school sweetheart (Bette) and began his career with the Chicago Public Schools. With their sights set on starting a family, Neal transitioned into the food service industry and relocated to Des Plaines. Close friends and family were always Neal’s top priority. He cherished the friends he made at each stage of his life and kept in touch with many even as they moved in different directions as adults. Gatherings with friends and family reigned supreme for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day and the Super Bowl. Sunday mornings were spent playing softball with Kool & The Gang. Neal loved being a father and grandfather – it was his most important job. He transitioned from his work day to home life seamlessly; riding bikes, playing catch and coaching Little League every night until the sun went down. Later he treasured his granddaughters, showering them with his love and attention and accompanying them to their weekly classes at The Little Gym. A hopeless romantic at heart, Neal was always in pursuit of love. Following his 20+ year marriage to Bette, Neal enjoyed time spent with Judy Wysow (z’l) and Susan Marx (z’l). Relationships with Judy and Susan enriched Neal’s life in immeasurable ways, as they shared the ups and downs of daily life and led him to treasured experiences in New Orleans, Cancun, Israel and beyond. Neal was predeceased by his parents Hyman and Jeanette Fox. He is survived by his brother Michael (Iris), his sons Eric (Dan Helmick) and David, and his grand-daughters Allison, Hannah, and Rory Helmick-Fox. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2025, at 11:00 am at Menorah Cemetery, 600 Passaic Ave., Clifton NJ 07012, followed by a celebration of life at Fitzgerald’s 1928 in Glen Ridge, NJ. Contributions in Neal’s memory can be made to the ALS Association (www.als.org), the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or to his synagogue, Kol Rina (www.kolrinanj.org).

Chapel Service 11:00 am Tuesday 6/24/25

Entombment Private.

With heavy hearts, the family of Brenda Rosalind Boss announces her passing on June 20, 2025. Born on September 18, 1939, in Newark, NJ, Brenda was raised in North Arlington and graduated from North Arlington High School in 1957. She went on to pursue higher education at Syracuse University and Upsala College. Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Lawrence Boss, and her beloved children: Scott Mack (Robyn), Garry Mack, Lauren Mack, and Barry Boss (Cathy). Her greatest joy came from spending time with her cherished grandchildren—Rachel Kolsky (Joshua), Emily Sander (Omer), Joshua Mack (Stephanie), Jake Mack, Theodore Boss, Alexandra Mack, Nicole Mack, and Marley Boss—and her adored great-grandchildren, James Kolsky, Elliot Kolsky, and Vivian Sander. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Freda (Brell) Macy. Brenda also leaves many treasured cousins and their families. One of Brenda’s proudest accomplishments was co-founding The Resale Rack, a successful consignment shop in Lake Hiawatha, NJ, which she opened in 1973 with her dear friend Sandra Shein. Though an only child, Brenda shared deep, lifelong bonds with many friends, especially Gail Amsterdam, whom she loved like a sister. She also remained close to the family of Suzie Landau, a friend she met in the 1950s at Camp Rosemont. During high school, Brenda formed lasting friendships with her “Cyclone sisters,” organizing many reunions and gatherings over the years. In the 1970s, Brenda served as president of the Parsippany, NJ chapter of Women’s American ORT, where she helped raise funds for education and job training in Israel. A true “Jersey Girl,” Brenda found joy in life’s simple pleasures—the shore, the city, and the timeless music of Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valli, and Bruce Springsteen. Whether strolling the boardwalk in Long Branch or spending a day at the beach with her grandchildren, she embraced every moment with enthusiasm and a deep love for sharing joyful times with family and friends. Services will be held at Jewish Memorial Chapel, 841 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ. Shiva will be held at One Claridge Drive, Apartment 911, Verona, NJ on Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 1 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. In accordance with Brenda’s heartfelt wishes, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be made online at alzfdn.org/donate or mailed to 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Burial at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, NJ

Roslyn (Roz) Rosenblum, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Her husband Jules was the core of her identity and she died as she lived: with him by her side. At 85 years old, Roz is survived by the great love of her life, Jules, her devoted husband of 64 years; by sons, David and Michael, daughter Nancy; daughters-in-law Michele, Vanessa and Lena; son-in-law Kevin; brother Martin and sister-in-law Barbara; 11 grandchildren Jordan, Matthew, Taylor, Lucas, Hank, Lexi, Jesse, Chase, Austin, Emily and Jeremy; the grandkids’ spouses Inka, Amy, Samantha and soon-to-be Hugo; and great-grandson Theo who she just got to meet. She was predeceased by her father Benjamin, her mother Gussie, and her beloved cousin Lillie who was like a second mother. Roz’s childhood days in Brooklyn were spent playing at the beach in the Rockaways with her brother Marty and cousin Judie, who was like a sister, and cousin Mel. She also enjoyed sleepaway camp as a camper and then as a counselor. She loved Brooklyn College and then became an art teacher where she shared her creative talent and her humor. She also taught art therapy to emotionally disturbed adults at Peninsula Counseling Center in Long Island, where she kept them busy but also laughing. She later went on to love the art of photography. She taught a course at Rutgers University and became the President of the South Shore Camera Club in Nassau County. For 35 years she judged professional and regional camera club competitions and was always the first to be invited back not just because of her expertise, but in true form, she injected humor into her judging and made each judging gig into a real show for the attendees. Her personal work has been featured in galleries and museums, including: the Hubbard Museum; the Nassau County Museum of Art; University of Massachusettes in Amherst; the Museum of the City of New York; and Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. In addition to art, she was also very involved with and in fact President of the League of Women Voters in Queens. Back in 1959, a guy named Jules called his friend Marilyn to let her know that she left something in his car. Marilyn said come on over with it and meet my friend Roz, she just got back from being a camp counselor, she’ll make you laugh. And so it began. Roz and Jules. With all their humor. Their marriage of 64 years resulted in this great big family who she adored and who adored her. She was an integral part of all of their lives, deeply interested in, involved with and proud of all of them. Roz and Jules loved travelling together, with family, with friends, or just with each other. They went to 40 states and more than 30 countries. They moved from Brooklyn to Howard Beach to raise their kids, and then onto Woodmere and finally to New Jersey. They summered with their children at Green Acres in the Catskills where they made great friends and great memories. They then built a wonderful vacation home in the Poconos that Roz helped design, it was a special place. When she wasn’t painting she loved to play board games, cards and do jigsaw puzzles. She was a wiz at Scrabble, Boggle and crossword puzzles. And she loved to tell stories. She was the best storyteller. She had a favorite story about each child and grandchild and just loved to tell them over and over. Roz was smart, kind, funny, social, generous, creative and so loving. Her legacy endures, and she will long be remembered by those who cared about her. And Jules’ unprecedented devotion will not be forgotten. May she rest in peace as we cherish her and fondly retell her stories. A memorial service was held at Jewish Memorial Chapel in Clifton. Shiva will be held at the residence of Jules Rosenblum on June 15 from 11am-1pm and from 5-7pm. Donations in her memory can be made to a charity that she regularly chose to support, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate.
